Bible Tips to control Covid-19 fears

All over the world, lives are being affected some significantly and some insignificantly. This is due to a virus called Coronavirus /Covid-19 which is said to have originated from China. The bat-origin virus began transmitting in humans from November 2019 at the Chinese Live animal markets.  And has spread its tentacle to more than 100 countries affecting thousands of lives within a short period of time.

Covid-19

In respective of where it originated from, what’s God saying amidst the coronavirus pandemic and the biblical tips to overcome its anxiety.

Economically, the impact is being terribly felt not just in affected countries but all over the world. Countries are being shut down, no going out and no coming in, travel ban etc bringing pain and uncertainty to businesses and people.

Families are feeling the impact. Companies are shutting down indefinitely. How will workers who cannot afford to miss a paycheck survive? Many schools are closed already ( The era of remote learning for our children) and others will close soon.

Fear

Having kids stay at home means having more food, and as a mom I have noticed during school holidays the food consumption is higher and bills go up too.  Yet, bills are to be paid irrespective of whatever comes. We can go on and on…. Who do we talk to? how long is it going to take? so many questions on the lips of men and women alike.

How do we handle this Pandemics as children of God? How do we handle these uncertain days. As believers, we have the answers in Gods word. This is what He is saying to everyone that cares to listen.

1. Do not Fear:

God knew that there will be situations in our lives that will bring fear and anxiety. He is reminding us again that he’s with us amidst all uncertainty.

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, then; you are of more value than many sparrows (Matthew 10:30 – 10:31 AMP).  This scripture is so soothing. He’s such a good good father. In time like this we need this assurance more than ever before.

Also, Hebrew 13:6 says. So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?

What will Coronavirus do to me( My own interpretation). Are you afraid or terrified of this virus or the impact it could bring. Believe in the report of the lord. Then, you will feel His peace at this time.

There is nothing wrong in being realistic and acknowledging that this is a terrible time nevertheless it’s of no use to be grounded in fear. Turn all your worries over to God in prayer, as you pray for yourself, family and nations of the world.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice (Isaiah 41:10 AMP)

And verse 13 For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!

Focus on Jesus

2. Focus on Jesus

This hymn comes to heart as I write this:

In times like these you need a Savior

In times like these you need an anchor

Be very sure, be very sure

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This Rock is Jesus, Yes He’s the One

This Rock is Jesus, the only One

Be very sure, be very sure

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

Numbers 21:7 – The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

And verse 8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”

John 3:14 – 15 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

By focusing on Jesus, we see nothing less, nothing more but Him. Look to Jesus and Live!

Speak His word

3. Speak His Promises

God is Over coronavirus, he is over all. Claim his promises in Romans chapter 8 verse 31. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Not Pandemic known or yet to come.

Child of the most High, God is on the throne. He has our best interest at heart. Though the devil has come to kill steal and destroy but our father has conquered and abundant life is our portion.

He said in Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

This is His word and it’s settled in heaven , it’s settled here on earth, it’s settled in your life , it’s settled in my life as well, Amen.

Likewise, Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

4. Be Positive

When you are positive you give hope to people around you. Likewise when one member of the family is afraid, he could pass fear to all other members. There’s so much anxiety in the world but as children of light we need to stay calm. For we have Peace that can not be found Covidin the world.

Coronavirus is new to us, but it’s not new to God. He has revealed the evil one( the devil) and his evil work, aimed to cause chaos in human race. And some ignorantly allow him (devil) to perform his plans by not recognizing God as supreme and giving Him is rightful place in this world and in their lives.

Let’s believe in the victory that we have in Jesus as we remain positive at this time.

Psalm 91: 1-16

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [1]

2

I will say [2] of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

3

Surely he will save you from the Fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

4

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8

You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

9

If you make the Most High your dwelling– even the LORD, who is my refuge–

10

then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.

11

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

12

they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13

You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14

“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15

He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16

With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

5. Repent and Pray

Whatever the LORD God plans to do, he tells his servants, the prophets. Amos 3:7

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E A Adeboye at the church’s international headquarters located in lagos-Nigeria gave this prophecy for the international community at the the cross over night into 2020.

Prophecy for 2020

He said “This year unless you pray very hard, it is going to behave like a child that is having convulsion; (At this point in writing, I do not think there is any better description about what is happening to the whole world now in the hand of this pandemic). “ A convulsing child”

He said the reason is due to SIN. Things that in the past could not be mentioned is now being celebrated and God is angry but He will help if we can pray.”

Sin opens door for every kind of satanic oppression. Let everyone search inward and pray to God. He is on the throne and He will have mercy.

2 Chronicles 7:14  (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Take precautionary measures

Lastly, as much as possible, let us all follow strictly :

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Washing

• If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

• Stay away from socializing for now or being in a group that is more than 50 in number.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Avoid close contact with sick people.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes but not limited to tables, doorknobs, light switches, counter tops, handles, desk, phones, keyboard, toilets faucets, and sinks.

In the midst of the Crisis, we are not alone, Don’t be afraid, Stay focus on Jesus, Speak His promises of protection, Be positive, repent of any sin and pray for the nations of the world. We are more than conquerors. We will survive this by His mercy and grace.

Shalom!

  7. It is a very challenging period for most people… especially people who need the salary to raise the family, some even need to support sick family members of their monthly medical bills. Good to be reminded that God knows what to do. if we have no clue. We get negative thoughts easily by having a crisis in life… we need to support each other for a long period of time while waiting for a better outcome later. Let’s have a complete faith in god. God blesses everyone too.
